Ceramco offers two-day courses on "Basics of Alloy Selection and Processing" and "Fundamentals of Dental
Ceramics." Each course is limited to 12 participants.

Basics of Alloy Selection and Processing
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This presentation will address the basic science and art of using alloys in the dental lab. Alloy categories,
cost factoring, and proper selection will be addressed. You will also learn the simple steps required to
process any ceramic or crown and bridge dental alloy. Spruing, investing, burnout, casting, and proper
finishing procedures will be discussed. This information will allow you to understand the basics of
processing a dental alloy. Marketing techniques for these products will also be discussed.

Fundamentals of Dental Ceramics
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This program will provide the beginning ceramist with the information and skills needed to be a productive
member of the ceramic department. Upon completion, the technician will understand and be able to complete
all steps involved in a porcelain-fused-to-metal restoration. Subjects that will be covered include: model
and die work, ceramic framework design, waxing, spruing, investing, casting and finishing.
This course will also include metal preparation, degassing, opaquing, porcelain build-up, finishing, stain
and glaze. The course is comprised of 50% theory and 50% hands-on experience. The theory section will cover
alloy considerations, CTE, ceramic materials composition and manufacture. The hands-on section will cover
porcelain application from opaquing through stain and glaze. Marketing techniques for these products will
also be discussed.
